I live in Northern Wisconsin with my husband, two teenage sons and two dogs. When I'm not working my full time, I use Dark Side Pyrography as a part time, creative outlet and hobby business.
My love of art started when I was a young child. I loved to draw, paint, and had dreams of becoming an art teacher. During my college years, I did explore that career path before changing my major to Graphic Art & Design. I ended up with an Associate of Arts degree but never pursued a career in that field. I did however continue to do art projects on the side, such as painting, murals, jewelry making, logo design, and portraits.
I was introduced to pyrography in 2003, when a customer offered to let me borrow his Razertip burner. INSTANT LOVE! I made signs, pet portraits and had a nice stream of commission requests through word of mouth. After a couple of years I ended up giving the burner back to my customer and decided to take a hiatus from pyrography art.
Fast forward to 2020, when I was asked to lead some new project meetings that would teach 4-H youth about the art of pyrography. Those sessions renewed love for this unique art form and I realized that this love needed to be nurtured. I jumped in head first, starting with purchasing my very own Razertip burner.
That is how Dark Side Pyrography was born! Since then, I have made countless commissions, including jewelry, unique gifts, pet portraits, leather work and more. The support and positive feedback from friends, family, and strangers has been AMAZING. Thank you!
